Classifications of energy

The Yellow Emperor classified 32 different types of chi. Depending on the selected criteria, there are many different classifications of the chi. This is an attempt to throw light upon some of them.

These Chi classifications are far from being complete. Today, there are thousands of expressions using the word Chi as a component. There is even a Chi Lexicon. This kind of classification intends to give the reader a general idea about the complexity of the concept of Chi in Chinese, and generally in the Eastern philosophy and medicine.

From the point of view of polarity, there are two categories of energy:

  • Yin Chi – Heaven or positive energy,
  • Yang Chi – Earth or negative energy.

For these men, who experience long-term erectile tadalafil 5mg online http://nakatsumassagewellness.com/about-2/ problems, Ajanta Pharma has manufactured a product. Symptoms include urinary hesitancy, frequent urination, cialis levitra price dysuria (painful urination), increased risk of urinary tract infections, andurinary retention. But among them Kamagra cheapest cialis http://nakatsumassagewellness.com/austin-massage-therapy-services/ is well known to all. Kamagra tablets are actually the product of Ajanta Pharma levitra tabs and can be found on any authorized pharmacy in the world.

We should understand this classification as both absolute and relative. From the absolute point of view, the neutral energy is the perfect balance between the Yin and Yang energies. This also means that there is an infinity of possible combinations of those two energies. From a relative point of view, neutral energy is the energy of the reference point. In this case, Yin and Yang are merely adjectives and are used only to compare two opposite types of energies.

From the point of view of the five-element theory, we have:

  • Mu Chi – Wood energy,
  • Huo Chi – Fire energy,
  • Tu Chi – Earth energy,
  • Jin Chi – Metal energy and
  • Shui Chi – Water energy.

The same explanation as for the above Yin/Yang energy classification applies here. The neutral energy is perceived as a perfect balance of the five different types of energy, but in an absolute interpretation it is only a reference point in a relative interpretation of the five-element theory.

From the point of view of the energy source we have the following classification:

  • Yuan Chi – The original or “Before Heaven” chi, this is the chi that is immediately inherited at the time of conception. Nothing you do can change this type of chi,
  • Zong Chi – This is the “After Heaven” chi, or the chi of the chest. This is formed by the gathering of two different types of energy during all our life:
    • Gu Chi – This is the “After Heaven” chi and is derived from food. It is the chi of the spleen,
    • Kong Chi – This also is the “After Heaven” chi, but it is derived from air and it is the chi of the lung.

From the point of view of the place in the human body, the normal energy can be:

  • Zangfu Zhi Chi – the Zheng Chi that flows through the organs. This type of energy can be further classified in the energy corresponding to two different types of organs:
    • Zang Chi – the energy corresponding to the 5-energy-storage organs
    • Fu Chi– the energy corresponding to the 6-energy-transforming organs
  • Jing Luo Zhi Chi – the Zheng Chi that flows through the meridians,
  • Xie Chi – the Zheng Chi that is carried by the blood.

From the point of view of the use or the function of the energy in the body, we have two distinctive categories:

  • Ying Chi – the nutritive Zheng Chi that nourishes the organs and tissue; it is also called glory energy and it is the lighter and purer form of chi,
  • Wei Chi – the defensive Zheng Chi that circulates on the surface of the body and protects it from external factors and it corresponds to the denser and less pure form of energy.

The vital energy can also be classified in:

  • Zheng Chi – This is the “normal” chi, it is the product of the Zong Chi being catalyzed by the Yuan Chi,
  • Gun Ho – This is the backup energy, used only when the Zheng Shi is exhausted.

Another interesting classification, depending on the effect of that specific energy on humans is:

  • Sheng Chi – righteous or auspicious energy with a positive effect on our body or our environment,
  • Shar Chi – evil or negative energy that causes blocks and energetic imbalance in both our body and our environment.

This classifications are for convenience and there is an overlapping of terms. For example, the nutrient essence traveling along a meridian is Jing Luo Zhi Chi and it turns into Zangfu Zhi Chi when it enters the colon to aid in its operations, but if it nourishes cells in the colon, it is called Ying Chi. We have to understand that Energy has a multitude of forms that travel and change its quality continuously.

All men dream: but not equally.
Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity.
But the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes to make it possible.

T.E. Lawrence
(1888-1935)
