Holistic Health Expo 2008 Windsor Memories

The Caboto Club in Windsor was once again the host of a unique wellness event that had been absent from the city’s event calendar for 4 years: the Holistic Health Expo. This event is intended to be an annual health and wellness show meant to educate people about the natural ways to improve their state of health at all levels. The theme of this gathering was Maintaining and Re-Creating Health in Mind, Body & Spirit.

This show was organized and coordinated by Martha and Dori Patriche from the Reiki-Do Natural Healing Centre in Leamington, Ontario and Tatjana Erdmann, from The Ancient Healing House in Harrow, Ontario.

The main show took place in the Canada Hall on the Main (1st) Floor and was hosting over 60 booths and 150 holistic practitioners and vendors. The DaVinci Room on the Ground Floor was running presentations on different subjects related to the general theme.

According to the Ancient Eastern Medicine, the 4 pillars of prevention medicine are: bone fixing, tissue manipulation, healing with foods and herbs, and energy healing. The show aimed to reflect these principles by having a wide range of alternative modalities.

The organizers’ biggest challenge was to bring together people with different backgrounds and interests, but with a common ideal of healthy living. Other concerns were maintaining a good proportion among the different modalities, as well as insuring a reasonable distribution of the exhibitors throughout the Essex County.

The bone fixing healing method was represented by well-known Chiropractic Doctors from Windsor, Tecumseh and Leamington. The tissue-manipulation group included Therapeutic Massage, Chair Massage, Reflexology, Cranio-Sacral Massage, Shiatsu and Total Body Medicine (TBM). Healing with food and herbs practitioners included Aromatherapy, Chinese Herbology, Naturopathy, Nutrition, as well as Wellness consultants and distributors of the most advanced nutritional supplements and skincare products on the market and vendors of natural and organic products and revolutionary environmental-friendly cleaning products. The last category gathered Acupuncturists, Reiki Masters, Therapeutic Touch practitioners, Bio-operating Computer System (B.O.S) practitioners, Crystal Healing practitioners and Yoga, Tai Chi and Qi Gong instructors as well as vendors of crystals and therapeutic gem jewelry. New, therefore less known in the same category are Psychic Angel Reading and healing with art. Books about all these modalities and more, and also relaxation and meditation CD meant to educate and assist people on their quest for a better health could be bought at the show.

Well-known and established alternative medicine offices throughout the Essex County and Windsor were represented at the show, along with reputable support organizations offering services to young moms and moms-to-be, wellness consultants and coaches, a plethora of holistic choices catering to everyone interested in alternative ways of maintaining or re-creating health. That day, Ancient and Modern, East and West were brought together under the same roof to show the world a glimpse of a better future, where all healthcare practitioners hold hands and share the same ideal.

Regardless of their primary interest and specialization, all practitioners were interested also in other alternative modalities. That’s why the show was a great opportunity not only for the visitors, but also for the participants to get to know and understand other holistic approaches to health, visit each other booths, experience mini-treatments and share their common goals of a better, healthier planet!

In order to offer show visitors the opportunity to find out more about different modalities, lectures and demonstrations were running throughout the whole day in the Da Vinci Room on the ground floor. Presentations about Chiropractic, Reflexology, Massage Therapy, Yoga, and Energy Healing were held every half-hour. Demonstrations and practice of Tai-Chi and Qi Gong introduced these very efficient and important ways to prevent illness and maintain health to many participants. Demonstrations were given by experienced Tai Chi and Qi Gong Masters.

The event was advertised in all the newspapers in the Essex County, magazines, radio, TV and Internet. The show had a significant echo in newspapers, and interviews with the coordinators and some of the participants were televised on A Channel the same evening.

It was a great show, with an amazing turnout also due to the very nice and warm weather encouraging everyone to venture outside and enjoy new activities.

We would like to give our thoughts of love and gratitude to Reiki-Do students Alice Frith and Lynn Sovie for their constant support, dedication and help, and for the amazing job at the Reiki-Do booth on the day of the show. We also thank Chris Labbate from Forge Infinity Studios for his support with the audio equipment.

Also, heartfelt thanks to the Caboto Club team. We are looking forward to a long and prosperous cooperation with them in the years to come!

Many thanks to all those who were there that day, blessings to all,

In Health and Prosperity,
Martha and Dori

All men dream: but not equally.
Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity.
But the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes to make it possible.
